Kakao announced on the 30th that it has significantly improved the convenience of content utilization by overhauling the Daum mobile app.

Following a comprehensive overhaul in January, this upgrade introduced the beta version of the content curation chatbot "Didi," allowing users to easily access personalized news content. Additionally, features for summarizing news articles that users frequently viewed and major issues were also added.

The newly revamped short-form content service has been renamed "Daum Loop," and new tabs such as recommendation and popular tabs have been added. The bottom tab includes a sub-content tab featuring the pilot operating "Local News" tab, and the shopping tab has also been updated with a new "Multi Shop" tab.

Yang Joo-il, CEO of Kakao Content CIC, said, "We plan to continuously enhance the competitiveness of the Daum app through the launch of new short-form content and the advancement of Didi (DD) within the year."

At one time, Naver and Daum formed a duopoly in the portal market, but currently, Daum's market share remains in single digits, falling into long-term stagnation. Despite internal resistance, Kakao is proceeding with the spin-off process of the Daum portal, with some speculating about the possibility of a sale.
