LG Innotek announced on the 30th that it has received a 'Leadership A grade' in the 2024 Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) climate change response evaluation, and has been selected as the top corporation for carbon management for three consecutive years.
The CDP evaluation is conducted simultaneously in over 130 countries worldwide and is known as one of the most trusted global sustainability assessments, alongside the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
This year's CDP evaluation for climate change response involved a total of 24,836 corporations worldwide. Among them, only 424 corporations, or 2% of the total, received a 'Leadership A grade.' In South Korea, only 16 corporations made the list.
LG Innotek was highly praised for swiftly executing tasks aimed at achieving '2030 RE100 and 2040 carbon neutrality,' centered around a dedicated carbon neutrality organization.
Additionally, LG Innotek was selected for the 'Carbon Management Honors Club,' awarded only to the top 5 corporations in the country, at the '2024 CDP Korea Awards' held on the 30th at the Fairmont Ambassador Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, for three consecutive years.
Moreover, the 'Carbon Management Sector Honors,' awarded to the top four corporations in the IT sector, was also selected simultaneously. With this recognition, LG Innotek has been selected as an excellent corporation in the climate change response sector for six consecutive years from 2019 to 2024.
LG Innotek is making multifaceted efforts for renewable energy transition, energy efficiency improvement, and process enhancement. In particular, it is fully committed to securing renewable energy to convert the high share of greenhouse gas emissions from electricity to renewable energy.
LG Innotek is expanding the use of renewable energy by securing a large-scale renewable energy power supply network through Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPA).
In addition, LG Innotek is accelerating various activities to secure a stable renewable energy supply network, including installing rooftop solar power facilities at major business sites domestically and internationally, and participating in the green premium system.
As a result, LG Innotek converted more than 638 GWh of its electricity used at domestic and overseas business sites to renewable energy over the past year. This amount is equivalent to what 133,000 households, based on a four-person household (with an average monthly electricity consumption of about 400 kWh), could use for an entire year.
Through this, LG Innotek achieved the corporate-wide RE60 standard, with two domestic business sites, including those in Vietnam, Paju, and Gumi 1A, already achieving RE100.
CEO Moon Hyung-soo noted, 'LG Innotek is focusing on authentic ESG management activities centered around climate change response' and stated, 'We will continue to create differentiated customer value through global ESG leadership.'
