LG Uplus announced on the 29th that it will invest 615.6 billion won to build a super-large artificial intelligence data center (AIDC) in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.

The data center, which aims to be completed by 2027, will be built on a gigantic scale capable of accommodating more than 100,000 servers. LG Uplus purchased land and buildings in the Paju area from LG Display last April.

AIDC focuses on operating ultra-high-performance graphic processing unit (GPU) servers, with a site area of approximately 73,712 square meters, equivalent to about nine football fields. This is 4.2 times the size of the existing 'Pyeongchon Mega Center' and 9.7 times that of the 'Pyeongchon 2 Center,' and it is designed as a hyperscale data center.

LG Uplus noted that through this data center, it plans to seize the AI infrastructure market and grow into a center for business-to-business (B2B) AI operations.
