Minister Yoo Sang-im said on the 29th regarding the hacking incident of SK Telecom's SIM card information, "The fact that it was reported about a day late will be subject to appropriate punishment."

During a comprehensive policy inquiry at the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, Minister Yoo responded to a question regarding allegations that SK Telecom did not report the breach within 24 hours of detecting the hacking, saying, "Was it not a case of trying to hide it and responding passively out of obligation?"

After recognizing the hacking incident, SK Telecom reported it to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) a day later, raising criticisms that it deliberately delayed the report. The Korea Internet & Security Agency mandates that breaches be reported within 24 hours.

Minister Yoo said, "I apologize as the minister of the relevant department for causing anxiety and concern to the public," and added, "It is unfortunate that we could not prevent the incident in advance." He also stated, "There is no possibility of illegal duplication of mobile phones, and we are blocking access and monitoring through a system that prevents it."
