The Korea Internet & Security Agency announced on the 23rd that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC) on the 22nd in Taipei, Taiwan, to enhance cooperation in managing internet resources and strengthening cybersecurity capabilities.

The purpose of this agreement is to respond to advanced cyber threats such as routing hijacking and to strengthen the stability and security of internet resources in the Asia-Pacific region.

The two organizations plan to work on ▲ Operating national internet resource management organizations (NIR) ▲ Enhancing internet security, such as routing authentication ▲ Community activities of the Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) ▲ Collaborating on internet governance policies centered in East Asia.

KISA also proposed the establishment of the Asia-Pacific Domain Name System (APDNS) Center to secure the internet autonomy foundation in the Asia-Pacific region. Currently, 65% of the member countries of the Asia-Pacific Top Level Domain Associations (APTLD) delegate the management of Domain Name System (DNS) operations to overseas corporations, highlighting the need for a local foundation.

Meanwhile, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Asia-Pacific branch and TWNIC are discussing cooperation for global internet policy exchange at the 'ICANN Asia-Pacific-TWNIC Engagement Forum' being held from the 22nd to the 24th. KISA President Lee Sang-joong also attended this event.

President Lee noted, 'The role of the internet is a platform for the sustainable development of humanity,' and stated, 'We will work with communities and international organizations in the East Asia region, including Taiwan, to enhance the safety and reliability of the global internet ecosystem.'
