Nexon announced on the 23rd that it has opened the second 'Maple Leaf Playground' in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province to enhance children's right to play and health.
The 'Maple Leaf Playground' is a public playground project where Nexon remakes old and dangerous playgrounds or establishes new ones in areas lacking playgrounds in collaboration with Nexon Foundation and the 'MapleStory' intellectual property, allowing children to freely engage in activities in a safe and creative play environment.
This second playground has been created by remodeling the 'Sky Light Children's Park' in Shingok-dong, Uijeongbu City. It was selected as the target site considering the aging facilities and low usage rates, and the design actively reflects the opinions of local children and residents.
In particular, utilizing the 'MapleStory' intellectual property, play elements themed around the character of the Stone Spirit are placed throughout, and new types of play equipment such as a large viper swing are also provided to offer a creative play experience. According to survey results, playground usage satisfaction increased to 9.1 points, approximately three times higher than before, and the response rate for desired use also increased by 81 percentage points.
Kim Chang-seob, the head director of Nexon's domestic MapleStory, said, “To enable children to grow healthily in an environment friendly to the right to play, we aimed to focus on capturing the voices and imagination of the participating children.”
