On the 22nd, Lee Chan-hee, Chairperson of the Samsung Compliance Committee, noted regarding the recent rejection of the corporate law amendment, "It should be centered around the public, not political interests, and we need to seek solutions in the context of overcoming the global economic crisis. It must not become a battleground for political power struggles or political pride."

The Chairperson met with reporters before the regular meeting of the 3rd Compliance Committee held at the Samsung Life Insurance building in Seocho District, Seoul, and made this remark. Earlier, the Democratic Party of Korea had pushed for a corporate law amendment that would expand the duty of loyalty of directors to include shareholders, but it was rejected in a re-vote at the National Assembly's plenary session on the 17th after the government exercised its right to demand reconsideration. However, political disputes between the ruling and opposition parties are expected to continue over the corporate law amendment.

On the 21st, Lee Jae-myung, a presidential primary candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, declared the re-promotion of the corporate law amendment as a pledge. The People Power Party criticized this candidate's actions on that day as anti-corporate populism. Additionally, the business community believes that enhancing shareholder value and value improvement can be sufficiently achieved through the Capital Markets Act, rather than the corporate law amendment.

The Chairperson also expressed his stance on the recent appointment of Roh Tae-Moon as the acting head of the Mobile Experience division, following the late Executive Vice President Han Jong-Hee, who led the Device Experience division at Samsung Electronics. The Chairperson stated, "Vice President Han played a significant role not only in Samsung but also in our economy," and added, "I believe that having President Roh, who has led the Samsung Electronics Device Experience division for a long time, act in this role is the best choice in terms of organizational stability."

He added, "As someone who has received good evaluations and recognition in terms of ability and leadership, I believe he will overcome this crisis well."
