SK Telecom's artificial intelligence (AI) platform NUGU is gradually being replaced by adot.

On the 21st, according to the telecommunications industry, SK Broadband will integrate the voice service of IPTV into adot. NUGU has been applied to IPTV set-top boxes since 2018, but it will be replaced by adot after six years.

NUGU is an AI service developed independently by SK Telecom that was launched in 2016, used for TV control, navigation, and music streaming through voice commands. Adot offers advanced conversational AI capabilities based on a large language model (LLM) that understands context and can handle multiple conversations.

Adot can answer complex questions such as, "What is the drama featuring actor Jung Haein that is popular right now?"

Additionally, SK Telecom has revamped T Phone, which previously used NUGU, to adopt adot. T Phone provided features like spam blocking and phone number guidance, but now it also offers advanced AI features such as call recording and real-time translation.

SK Telecom plans to gradually incorporate adot into various services, including smartphones, navigation, and music streaming services.
