Solutions tailored to disability types are also being implemented, such as providing tactile stickers on product buttons and adding accessibility sounds, or placing control units within reach for those sitting in wheelchairs, thereby enhancing space utilization.
The 'Bixby' feature included in the 2025 Bespoke AI home appliance models will offer accessibility settings tailored to users based on voice ID technology that identifies voices. The 'Auto Open Door' feature, which had high satisfaction among users with accessibility difficulties, has also been expanded to more products, including refrigerators, washing machines, ovens, and dishwashers.
To achieve this, Samsung Electronics is reflecting universal design. She mentioned that "not only do we listen to various voices from the product design stage, but we are also discovering items based on user data analysis" and "we plan to continually seek collaboration with internal and external expert groups and institutions for better experiences."
Accessibility features for screen appliances, such as voice guidance and visibility enhancements, are being prepared to comply with the European Accessibility Act, which will take effect in June. Alongside this, efforts to strengthen accessibility are being made through employee participation, including the 'Samsung Family Supporters' composed of employees with disabilities and employees' family members with disabilities, and the 'Accessibility Employee Resource Group (ERG)' launched this year in the Device Experience institutional sector.
Based on this, she introduced that they developed the AI-based visual aid app 'Sullivan Plus' for global customers in collaboration with 'TUAT' and introduced a dedicated mode for visually impaired individuals, as well as developed assistive devices such as attachable handles.
