SK Telecom announced on the 17th that it held a meeting to discuss collaboration with the American quantum computing corporation IonQ.

The meeting, held at T Tower in Euljiro, Seoul, was attended by Peter Chapman, chairman of the board at IonQ; Thomas Kramer, CFO; and Philip Para, in charge of corporate and strategic partnerships. This meeting is part of follow-up discussions to the strategic partnership SK Telecom signed with IonQ in February.

Both companies reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen collaboration in quantum networking and quantum security, and SK Telecom discussed the possibility of expanding its partnerships related to quantum security to quantum computing. Additionally, SK Telecom and IonQ plan to continue their collaboration with ID Quantique and make joint efforts to raise awareness of the potential of quantum computing.

Ryu Young-sang, president of SK Telecom, said, "Collaboration with IonQ represents an opportunity for SK Telecom to expand its business not only in quantum security but also in quantum computing," adding, "We will continue to invest and collaborate to lead the market in the future."
