The Korea Display Industry Association announced on the 14th that it has established the 'Inorganic Light Emitting Business Promotion Team.' The association plans to launch a support project to build an ecosystem for securing competitiveness and leading the inorganic light-emitting display market in conjunction with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The promotion team, which the association will operate for about eight years starting this year, will lead the strategy formulation and infrastructure development for the inorganic light-emitting display research and development (R&D) projects that will commence in earnest this year.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy aims to secure core technological competitiveness to take the lead in the early market for inorganic light-emitting displays through this project.

Inorganic light-emitting displays are a new market projected to grow to about 47 trillion won by 2035, expanding applications in areas such as extended reality (XR) devices, smartwatches, premium TVs, and signage.

Lee Dong-wook, vice president of the Korea Display Industry Association, expressed hope that "this project will be a practical breakthrough to strengthen our technological competitiveness and maintain our sovereignty amid rapidly changing and unstable trade environments, including tariff wars."
