On the 12th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump stated he will provide specific answers regarding tariffs on semiconductors on the 14th.

President Trump briefly met with reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling from Palm Beach, Florida, to Miami, noting, "We will be very specific." This was reported by the White House press pool. Previously, President Trump has reiterated the policy on tariffs on semiconductors and others.

Spokesperson Caroline Levitt, in a statement released that day regarding the exclusion of smartphones, laptops, memory chips, and others from the reciprocal tariff list, said, "President Trump noted that automobiles, steel, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors will be included in specific (other) tariffs to apply tariffs fairly and effectively." Levitt also said, "President Trump will soon announce the results of the Trade Expansion Act Section 232 investigation concerning semiconductors."

The Trade Expansion Act Section 232 grants the U.S. President the authority to take emergency measures if foreign imports threaten national security. President Trump has imposed a tariff of 25% on steel and automobiles by utilizing this law.

Meanwhile, amid forecasts that the price of iPhones, primarily produced in China, could skyrocket due to reciprocal tariffs, the U.S. government has excluded smartphones and computers from the list of items subject to reciprocal tariffs.
