LG Display announced on the 13th that it will implement a delivery service using artificial intelligence (AI)-based autonomous robots.

Starting from a coffee shop located within the business sites in Paju, an outdoor delivery service using delivery robots from 'Woowa Brothers' will be launched to the entrances of buildings where employees work, including office and factory buildings. This robot delivery service outdoors in an industrial complex is a first in the country.

The delivery robot quickly recognizes surrounding objects and obstacles and safely navigates itself at a speed of 1.5 m/s, similar to that of a person walking briskly between buildings within the business sites in Paju.

The business sites in Paju, roughly the size of 150 soccer fields, require over 30 minutes for a round trip on foot to the farthest working place from the franchise coffee shop.

With the introduction of this robot delivery service, employees have significantly reduced their travel distance and time. Orders can also be placed easily through a mobile application. A pilot service will run until the 18th, with full commercial service starting on the 21st.

LG Display plans to continuously improve employee convenience by expanding the range of items for the robot delivery service from coffee to hamburgers and by adding more delivery robots, based on employee feedback.

A representative from LG Display said, 'Not only through the robot delivery service but also through continuous digital transformation management innovation using AI, we will enhance employee satisfaction and work productivity.'
