On the 10th, Dolby Laboratories announced it will significantly expand its partnership with the world’s largest theater chain, AMC Entertainment. Accordingly, an additional 40 Dolby Cinema theaters will open in AMC locations in the United States from this year through the end of 2027.

Dolby noted that the expansion of this partnership is based on the success of AMC Dolby Cinema over the past decade and the immersive viewing experience that has garnered great popularity among audiences. With the addition of Dolby Cinema theaters, the number of AMC Dolby Cinema locations in the U.S. is expected to increase by about 25%, surpassing a total of 200.

As preference for premium theaters like Dolby Cinema has increased, their share of total box office revenue is also rising. With Dolby establishing itself as a valuable brand among moviegoers, Dolby Cinema is expected to achieve the highest attendance ever in 2024, breaking the box office revenue record set in 2023.

So far, more than 725 theatrical films have been released or are confirmed for release in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, including upcoming titles like "Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning," "The Best Kid 2," "F1," "Jurassic World: New Beginnings," and "Avatar: Fire and Ash." Additionally, 49 of the top 50 box office films over the past five years have screened in Dolby Cinema.

Kevin Yeaman, CEO of Dolby Laboratories, said, “Premium theaters provide a unique value that only theaters can offer and are setting a new standard for cinemas today,” adding, “I hope that with the expansion of our long-standing partnership with AMC, more audiences will enjoy the immersive movie-watching experience that can only be experienced at Dolby Cinema.”

Adam Aron, chairman and CEO of AMC Entertainment, said, “For the past decade, AMC and Dolby have provided overwhelming viewing experiences for moviegoers, particularly elevating the scale, picture quality, sound, and immersion of major blockbusters,” and he added, “The expansion of this partnership clearly demonstrates that AMC is continually striving to offer premium experiences to more AMC theaters and audiences across the country that filmmakers, studio partners, and audiences desire.”
