SK Telecom developed an AI-based anomaly detection integrated service utilizing AI cybersecurity technology ScamGuard and applied it to IBK Industrial Bank and its own AI service adot on the 8th.
This solution, the first in the country to link telecommunications information and financial data, allows real-time analysis of customers' exposure to voice phishing and risk levels, enabling proactive responses such as blocking transfers and withdrawals. ScamGuard detects electronic financial fraud, including voice phishing and smishing, and has improved detection accuracy with four technologies: AI bait message detection, phishing attempt chat detection, and analysis of voice phishing call patterns.
At CES 2025, it won the 'best innovation in the cybersecurity sector' award and was selected as the 'best mobile communication service' at MWC25.
According to the agreement signed last year with IBK Industrial Bank to prevent voice phishing damage, SK Telecom applied the anomaly detection integrated solution to the financial sector customer protection system 'SurPASS' and equipped it in IBK Industrial Bank's voice phishing monitoring system. This solution identifies suspicious phishing phone numbers in real-time and provides financial institutions with 'voice phishing risk levels.' In about two weeks of pre-testing, IBK Industrial Bank prevented 26 cases of voice phishing damage and avoided approximately 590 million won in losses.
Additionally, SK Telecom applied its AI anomaly detection solution to its AI service adot, providing warning messages for calls received from suspicious voice phishing phone numbers and contributing to the prevention of fraud damage. About 190,000 warning messages have been issued in the past month, and voice phishing impersonating credit card delivery was also detected in advance.
SK Telecom plans to further develop a more advanced anomaly detection integrated solution by merging telecommunications and financial phishing information in the future.
