The United States Forces Korea stated that the claim, 'If martial law is declared, U.S. forces may be deployed,' is "false information."

According to the United States Forces Korea on the 1st, the previous day, the U.S. military's official social media account X responded in English to a post by a user who said, 'If there are spies or Chinese connections in the forest fire, a Defconn martial law military deployment is possible,' by saying, "Do not spread false information."

When the user asked, 'Did you understand Korean correctly?', the official account of the United States Forces Korea replied, "It was translated correctly," and "Someone tagged us, and we told them not to spread false information."

The United States Forces Korea also stated, "U.S. troops cannot be mobilized under the Korean martial law, and such an event did not occur last December."

Although it is online, it is unusual for the official account of the United States Forces Korea to respond in this manner to a post made by an individual user.

The original user who posted the content has deleted the post, and the response from the U.S. military account has also disappeared.

The United States Forces Korea explained the circumstances under which the official account posted such content, stating, "We are using social media as a tool to provide transparency in our activities," and "We are communicating directly with the public and sharing deeper stories about the South Korea-U.S. alliance."
