Samsung Electronics has appointed renowned industrial designer Mauro Porcini as the chief design officer (CDO) of the device experience institutional sector.

Mauro Porcini is the first foreign chief design officer of Samsung Electronics. Born in Italy, Mauro Porcini received his bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial design from the Polytechnic University of Milan. He started as a product designer at Philips and has served as CDO at 3M and PepsiCo.

Porcini recently posted on his LINKED account, "I spent an unforgettable 13 years at PepsiCo," adding, "The next step is a continuation of my lifelong mission to create, inspire, and have an impact."

Samsung Electronics plans to strengthen its design capabilities across all business areas, including mobile, TV, and home appliances, with the addition of Mauro Porcini.

Earlier, Chairman Lee Jae-yong emphasized in a video message at an executive seminar that, "We must cultivate and bring in outstanding talents, regardless of nationality or gender," and noted, "If necessary, personnel changes should be made frequently."
