Ko Seong-hak, a former Commissioner of the Personal Information Protection Commission, will assume the position of the 6th executive vice president of the Personal Information Protection Association (OPA) on April 1, the association announced on the 31st.
Vice President Ko graduated from Sogang University with a degree in political science and later earned a Ph.D. in political science from Soongsil University. He served as the chief presidential secretary to the National Assembly Speaker and held positions as the CEO of Korea Information Certification Agency (KICA), vice chairman of the Korea Public Key Infrastructure Forum, and vice chairman of the Korea Information Security Industry Association.
In his inaugural speech, Vice President Ko noted, "I will work with the association's member companies to practice personal information protection voluntarily and help establish a culture of personal information protection."
He added, "I will actively support the policies of the Personal Information Protection Commission and take the lead in raising awareness of personal information protection among corporations and citizens by strengthening public-private cooperation," and emphasized that "as the era of artificial intelligence (AI) calls for global cooperation and information exchange, I will elevate the role and stature of the association to a global level."
