LG Electronics announced on the 31st that it will expand support, including home appliances and repair services, for local residents affected by the recent wildfires in the Yeongnam region.
LG Electronics has established a hotline with local government officials and village leaders in affected areas centered around service centers in wildfire-affected regions, quickly securing channels for identifying necessary home appliances for temporary shelters and receiving service requests for damaged products.
In addition, support was provided for essential appliances needed by disaster victims at 19 major shelters in heavily affected areas, including Uiseong County, Cheongsong County, and Sancheong County. Air purifiers to eliminate smoke entering the shelters and microwaves for preparing simple meals in shelters where cooking is difficult were installed.
LG Electronics is considering additional support plans for washing machines and dryers in areas where evacuation may take longer than initially expected.
The company is also providing repair support for home appliances damaged by the wildfires. Service experts have been dispatched to each region to operate mobile service centers, and starting from last weekend, when some victims began returning home, a 'door-to-door service' was launched to visit each household to support △ product safety inspections △ repairs and cleaning △ issuing malfunction confirmation documents for fire insurance claims.
An LG Electronics official said, 'We will continue to provide substantial and consistent support to help local residents suffering from the sudden disaster return to their daily lives as soon as possible.'
Earlier, LG donated 2 billion won to the Community Chest of Korea on the 26th to assist residents affected by the wildfires. LG H&H and LG Uplus are also continuing various efforts to support the victims.
