Beam Mobility announced on the 27th that it will introduce an artificial intelligence (AI)-based 'parking evaluation system' in Cheongju to improve the parking order of shared electric scooters.
This system analyzes in real-time the parking photo of the electric scooter taken by users when they end their ride to determine the appropriateness of the parking status. When the user selects 'end ride' in the app, the camera automatically activates to take a photo, and the AI analyzes it, displaying a 'wrong parking' warning message if it blocks sidewalks, crosswalks, or tactile pavements. Users can retake the photo or adjust their parking location according to the guidance.
The AI parking evaluation system will be applied along with the GPS-based virtual designated parking system currently operated by Beam Mobility. The existing system guides users to park only in designated areas within the app, but there may be discrepancies between the actual location and the indicated location due to GPS errors. AI-based image analysis technology will complement this to enable more accurate confirmation of parking locations.
Beam Mobility has also established an 'operations dashboard' that allows the operations team to directly verify parking data analysis results. Through this, the company plans to identify the types of parking issues by region and prepare operational measures suited to urban environments.
A Beam Mobility representative noted, 'The method encourages users to verify and improve their parking status through AI-based analysis, which is expected to help ensure pedestrian safety in the area and establish order in parking.'
