As artificial intelligence (AI) PCs expand their presence in the consumer market, Intel is strengthening its dominance in the laptop market with the launch of the advanced Intel Core Ultra 200H and 200HX series (codename: Arrow Lake). In particular, this Arrow Lake is outfitted with performance per watt and over 400 AI features, while diversifying its price range to lead the popularization of AI laptops.
On the 5th, Park Seung-jae, executive director at Intel Korea, noted at the 'Intel Tech Day' held at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, that "the PC market in 2025 is expected to see a growth rate of 4%, the highest since 2022," and said, "A massive technological transformation is taking place due to AI PCs."
He continued, "In particular, 2025 will be a crucial moment for AI notebook PCs, with 41% of PCs shipped this year being AI PCs, indicating a high proportion." Executive Director Park added, "Last year, Intel reestablished itself as a leader in the PC market with products such as Meteor Lake and Luna Lake, supporting broader AI applications than competitors, launching upgraded AI performance products, and receiving high evaluations, particularly in terms of energy efficiency."
The Arrow Lake (Intel Core Ultra 200H and 200HX) unveiled by Intel that day is now being supplied to global PC manufacturers following its debut at the world's largest IT exhibition, CES 2025, held in Las Vegas, USA, in January. Intel showcased products featuring Arrow Lake from companies including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Dell, Lenovo, HP, and ASUS.
The biggest strength of Arrow Lake, released in two forms: the balance model (Ultra 200H) and the high-performance model (Ultra 200HX), is that it exhibits higher performance compared to competitors such as Qualcomm and AMD at the same power level. Executive Director Park explained, "In the power consumption range of 28 to 45 watts, Arrow Lake showed a performance per watt that is 20% higher than competing products from Qualcomm and 10% higher than AMD," and added, "In high-performance models like the HX, there is a 50% advantage over Qualcomm and a 25% advantage over AMD."
The Intel Core Ultra 200H features up to 16 cores, supporting up to 22% improved gaming performance, up to 17% improved single-thread performance, and 19% improved multi-thread performance compared to the previous generation H series processors, offering a maximum of 99 TOPS in AI processing performance on a platform basis. The Ultra HX series, specialized for high-performance computing, is equipped with up to 24 cores, supporting up to 41% improved multi-thread performance and 10% improved single-thread performance compared to the previous generation HX series processors.
During the technology demonstration, Intel showcased an Arrow Lake-equipped laptop running the latest game, Civilization 7, in a 4K environment, achieving stable performance of over 60 to 90 frames per second. Additionally, they demonstrated how to easily implement the OpenAI CLIP model using the integrated graphics processing unit (GPU), showcasing numerous famous American figures' photos and illustrating how the AI immediately marked a photo of Abraham Lincoln in response to the prompt to 'highlight figures related to the abolition of slavery.'
Executive Director Park stated, "The silicon that powers processors in AI PCs is just the beginning. The implementation of high-quality processors into amazing products comes from the many software partners Intel manages, and since launching the AI PC acceleration program, Intel has exceeded its goals, supporting over 400 AI features through Intel CPUs, showcasing the industry's highest level."
