At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 held in Barcelona, Spain, leaders of global artificial intelligence (AI) corporations, including Lenovo, Databricks, and MistralAI, shared their opinions on the future direction and impact of AI. They all agreed that AI technology will change both industries and personal lives.

During the Tech Game Changers session held on the morning of the 4th (local time), Lenovo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yang Yuanqing, Databricks Vice President Navin Rao, and MistralAI CEO Arthur Mensu took the stage as speakers.

CEO Yang noted that "AI should not be limited to the cloud but must operate everywhere," emphasizing the importance of what's known as "hybrid AI." He explained that hybrid AI functions by integrating and complementing personal AI and corporate AI.

He stated, "Lenovo believes that hybrid AI defines a new era," adding that "AI inference models will run on personal devices such as PCs, tablets, and smartphones, and device-based AI agents will respond to user requests and even perform tasks authorized by users."

CEO Yang projected that the AI PC market will grow rapidly, stating that "80% of PCs sold in the next three years will be AI PCs" and that "Lenovo will provide a personalized AI experience through AI PCs." He emphasized that the chatbot "Lena AI," developed by Lenovo, will learn user habits to create a smarter AI environment.

Rao noted that advancements in user interfaces (UI) will widely disseminate AI technology. He stated that "For AI to actually enhance user experience, intuitive UI and user experience (UX) are essential," and added that "AI should be made easier to utilize through data-driven personalized interfaces."

He also mentioned that "While chatbots are currently the main UI, this is a very inefficient method," emphasizing that "To develop better UI, AI must understand the user's context and automatically execute necessary tasks. This will allow AI to evolve from a simple chatbot into a genuinely useful tool."

CEO Mensu pointed out during an interview with CNBC's Arjun Karpal that Europe needs to secure AI sovereignty. He noted that "Recently, European corporations are showing movements to reduce dependence on American technology and are attempting to develop independent AI technology," adding that "Specifically, investments in data center and infrastructure development are expanding. MistralAI is also pushing for the establishment of a data center in France."

CEO Mensu also evaluated that China's "DeepSeek" has significantly contributed to the open-source AI community and is helping corporations utilize AI technology at a lower expense. He said that "Open-source AI models are becoming increasingly competitive," explaining that "MistralAI supports corporations in building customized AI solutions using open-source models."

He further stated that "AI will go beyond merely solving mathematical problems to learn the expertise accumulated by corporations and build customized AI systems that reflect it," declaring that "In the next two years, we plan to focus on developing these customized AI solutions."
