LG Uplus announced on the 25th that it will unveil technologies such as Anti-DeepVoice, Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), and On-Device AI, which will be applied to its AI service, Exio, during the MWC 2025, which begins on March 3 in Barcelona, Spain.
According to a national survey conducted by the Ministry of Science and ICT last year, 16.3% of respondents cited "personal information leakage" as a potential risk of artificial intelligence. Cyber crimes using AI and fake news are also one of the potential risks. LG Uplus has developed security technologies that can be applied to AI services to address these issues.
The 'Anti-DeepVoice' developed by LG Uplus is a technology that allows AI to discern voices forged by machines. This technology is garnering significant interest as recent advancements in Text to Speech (TTS) have made it easier to quickly replicate and counterfeit the voices of specific individuals.
LG Uplus trained its self-developed TTS model using various TTS technologies to learn the voices of real people alongside those forged by AI. This implementation enables AI to detect subtle unnaturalness in the pronunciation of machine-generated voices and abnormal patterns in the vocal frequency range. LG Uplus plans to incorporate the Anti-DeepVoice technology into its mobile AI agent, Exio, to enhance its voice phishing detection service.
Additionally, LG Uplus plans to further enhance the stability of AI services using security technologies such as Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). PQC is cryptographic technology designed based on problems that cannot be solved even by quantum computers. Building on its technology competitiveness, LG Uplus plans to implement quantum cryptography security technology in software form and incorporate this into Exio, which will allow LG Uplus to offer a secure AI service to Exio users, ensuring that even if customers lose their smartphones, others cannot access their information.
Along with that, LG Uplus will also enhance its "On-Device AI" technology. In the case of cloud-based AI services, there are concerns about information leakage due to personal data being stored on servers; however, by implementing services with On-Device AI, personal information can be safely stored only on the customer's device. LG Uplus plans to advance the On-Device AI functionality and apply it to Exio to prevent concerns about personal information theft.
Han Young-seop, head of the AI Tech Lab at LG Uplus, said, "We will provide the safest AI service by applying differentiated security technologies and solutions to Exio, and showcase LG Uplus's differentiated AI technology in the global market," and noted, "In the future, we will strengthen not only security but also the convenience features of Exio to offer an AI service with top-ranked security in the global market."
LG Uplus will also introduce the 'SASE (Secure Access Service Edge)' it is developing in collaboration with various security industry partners in South Korea during MWC 2025. SASE is an integrated security platform covering network and cloud security to security monitoring functions, with major security corporations in South Korea, including LG Uplus, MONITORAPP, AhnLab, CYBERONE, ASTK, and others, closely collaborating.
