SK Telecom announced on the 25th that it will showcase smart AI technology to ensure safety in industrial sites and protect customer information at the world's largest mobile communications exhibition, Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC25), which will be held from March 3.

At this exhibition, SK Telecom will introduce various AI technologies, including autonomous robots that enhance safety and efficiency at construction sites, financial security solutions, and audio separation technology needed for exporting Korean content by integrating advanced communication technology and AI.

SK Telecom will unveil the results of practical demonstrations of its autonomous driving technology 'VLAM (Visual Localization And Mapping),' which allows for precise movement in various industrial environments such as construction sites, hospitals, and office buildings. SK Telecom previously garnered attention by showcasing cases using VLAM for navigation for visually impaired individuals at MWC23.

VLAM utilizes spatial analysis AI and precise positioning AI to analyze real-time camera images mounted on robots to accurately determine their location. This enables robots to move accurately and stably even in complex construction environments. Robots utilizing VLAM can transport materials to the exact location needed by workers and assist in safe loading. They can also find optimal routes within complex large hospital wards to transport pharmaceuticals, and cooperation with medical institutions is currently underway.

This technology appears to create an optimal combination with SK Telecom's Telco Edge AI infrastructure, applying AI to communication equipment to help optimize the performance of devices around base stations.

SK Telecom will introduce a telecommunications big data-based AI security solution 'FAME (Fraud detection AI for MNO & Enterprise),' which can be used by both individual and corporate customers. FAME provides a fraud detection model for corporate clients and a spam filtering model for mobile telecom users. The fraud detection model of FAME analyzes SK Telecom's location data, call, and text information in real-time using AI to help prevent financial and insurance fraud.

For example, if a user logs into a banking app and a call history with a voice phishing number is detected, it can halt the fund transfer or send a warning to the customer. Acknowledged for this proactive response capability, cooperation with the finance sector is expanding, starting with Shinhan Card.

Additionally, FAME utilizes LLM technology to provide services for individual customers that detect and block spam, smishing, malicious apps, and malicious URLs in real-time.

The 'AI Media Studio' showcased in the 'AI Services' area of the SK Telecom exhibition is a solution that enhances efficiency when localizing video content such as dramas and entertainment for overseas markets.

The 'AI Media Studio' consists of technologies such as 'Soundistill,' which separates audio included in content and replaces it with royalty-free audio or AI-generated sounds; 'AutoReframe,' which optimizes and converts broadcast footage into mobile short content; and 'VPP (Virtual Product Placement),' which seamlessly inserts 2D and 3D products into existing footage without separate filming to advertise localized brand images and products.

Automatic subtitle generation for support of various languages, multilingual subtitle translation, and dubbing features have been co-developed by SK Telecom and startups XL8 and Hudson AI.

SK Telecom's 'AI Media Studio' enhances productivity in localization by helping content production and supply companies to quickly and affordably localize existing works. Furthermore, SK Telecom is continually expanding its service area by developing AI technologies that can replace filming traditionally done in studios with virtual studios.
