Chinese company Xiaomi is set to release artificial intelligence (AI) glasses in the first half of this year, local media reported on the 7th.
According to Chinese media including the 21st Century Business Herald, Xiaomi launched the official 'Xiaomi Glasses' account on Weibo the previous day, raising expectations for the AI glasses launch. Xiaomi, which announced its entry into the AI glasses market last November, has been developing next-generation AI glasses in collaboration with Chinese augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) device manufacturer Goertek, and the product is expected to be unveiled in April.
In addition, China's Securities Times reported that the product has already obtained network access permission and is expected to be revealed soon.
Market research firm IDC projected that global shipments of AI glasses this year will reach 12.8 million units, a 26% increase compared to the previous year. In particular, the Chinese market is expected to grow by 107%, reaching 2.8 million units.
Recently, the technological advancement of the Chinese AI model 'DeepSeek' has accelerated the release of AI application products, and global corporations such as Samsung, Meta, Apple, and ByteDance are expected to intensify market competition by launching products that combine AI and AR.
