LG Uplus announced plans to monetize some services of its AI-based call agent 'ixi-O' during the '2024 Q4 conference call.'

Kang Jin-wook, head of the mobile and digital innovation group at LG Uplus, noted, "We plan to secure a revenue model by monetizing some services, such as saving call history for (ixi-O)," adding, "Currently, there are 170,000 subscribers to ixi-O, and the goal is to expand that to 1 million by the end of the year."

Launched in November last year, ixi-O is an AI-based service that offers features like answering calls instead of making them, real-time voice phishing detection, call recording, and summarization in an on-device environment. Any LG Uplus customer using an iPhone 14 or later can use it for free.

Kang also revealed plans to focus on providing a personalized AI customer experience. He stated, "We are preparing to expand functionalities into areas that combine currency and AI technology, and ultimately, we aim to evolve into a 'Personal AI Agent' optimized for individuals based on customer data to deliver a differentiated customer experience."
