LG Electronics has demonstrated its cybersecurity capabilities across various product lines in line with the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
According to LG Electronics' newsroom on the 30th, LG Electronics' refrigerators, signage, smart monitors, and soundbars received cybersecurity standard (ETSI EN 303 645) certification from the global testing and certification body TUV Rheinland last year. This certification outlines cybersecurity requirements set by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) for developers and manufacturers of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and stakeholders.
The certification obtained for the soundbar and smart monitor products is the first of its kind in the world, and the refrigerator and signage also represent the first case domestically. As product security becomes increasingly important with the advancement of AI technology and the ubiquity of IoT devices, LG Electronics noted that it is significant to be recognized for its world-class cybersecurity technology and product application.
LG Electronics applies its own security development process, 'LG-SDL,' from the development stage of all its products, which are released based on connectivity such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee. This is a software development security policy that entails security activities to pre-detect and respond to security vulnerabilities during the software development stage, which must be conducted for all products. For product lines requiring more advanced cybersecurity, including AI, the stronger in-house security system 'LG Shield' is applied.
LG Electronics has also been recognized for its cybersecurity capabilities in the automotive components field. In December last year, it completed level 3 certification of the Cybersecurity Management System (CSMS) for automotive components from TUV Rheinland. The CSMS certification thoroughly evaluates whether security has been properly applied throughout the entire process, from design, development, software, and production to post-management, based on various assumed scenarios.
LG Electronics stated, "We plan to continuously strengthen our cybersecurity capabilities and provide differentiated customer experiences in future business areas, including home appliances, AI homes, and mobility."
