The Galaxy S25 is a product that applies "multimodal AI" (artificial intelligence technology that analyzes various forms of data simultaneously, such as text, images, and voice) to expand user experience. An example of its difference from its predecessor (the Galaxy S24) is that it has extended user experience to allow sound data to be searchable through artificial intelligence (AI).

Kim Jeong-hyun, Deputy Minister of Consumer Experience (CX) at Samsung Electronics, held a press briefing on the 23rd (local time) at the Westin Hotel in San Jose, California, introducing the features of the new AI smartphone product, the Galaxy S25.

The Galaxy S25 is equipped with the integrated AI platform "One UI 7," which has been developed in collaboration with Google for the past three years. This allows users to work across different applications seamlessly. With the application of multimodal AI, it can analyze and process various types of data simultaneously, including not just text and images, but also sound. For example, if a user is watching YouTube and is curious about the background music, they can command, "Find out which song is playing in the YouTube video I'm watching, save it in Samsung Notes, and then send the song title to Sunja via text message," allowing for all tasks to be completed at once.

The Deputy Minister noted, "With the arrival of the AI era, the importance of the multimodal function that processes various data simultaneously has grown," adding, "We focused on planning the Galaxy S25 to find information faster and more easily and communicate with users in various ways to expand user experience."

The Deputy Minister defined Samsung's goal of expanding AI user experience as "minimizing input and maximizing output." He said, "The key to enhancing AI user experience is to minimize input (the input of labor and resources to create results) and maximize output (results)," noting that "we are focusing on areas where using AI can enhance output."

The Deputy Minister expressed confidence that the launch of the Galaxy S25 will result in an increasing number of mobile AI users. He stated, "While the global usage rate of mobile AI is rapidly increasing, many people are still hesitant to use mobile AI. With the launch of the Galaxy S25 equipped with multimodal AI, if user experience expands, it will create more (mobile AI) users who can benefit from AI."

The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of personal data analysis in expanding smartphone user experience. He explained, "The newly integrated AI feature called 'Now Brief' in the Galaxy S25 analyzes users' smartphone usage patterns and data, then automatically briefs them on the information they need," adding, "The incorporation of the Personal Data Engine in the Galaxy S25 has made this possible."

The Deputy Minister also mentioned concerns about personal information leaks through the Personal Data Engine. He said, "We have created a security structure to keep all useful personalized information on-device, ensuring it doesn't leave the smartphone," and noted, "This personal information is securely protected through the Samsung Knox Vault platform."

The Deputy Minister stated, "Providing consumers (users) with a great experience so that they continue to use it and it becomes helpful in their everyday lives is the true AI phone," adding, "This is our most important goal, and we will continue to evolve to create new AI experiences." He continued, "Just as there was a quantum leap from feature phones to smartphones, I believe we are now in the early stages of a quantum leap from smartphones to AI phones," adding, "There is now a consensus among chipset, platform, and hardware industry leaders that the time for change (to the AI phone era) has come."
