On the 23rd, SK hynix said during a conference call for its 2024 fourth-quarter earnings announcement that "demand for legacy semiconductor products such as DDR4 and LPDDR4 will accelerate in its decline, unlike high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and DDR5." It added, "We will reduce the production of DDR4 and LPDDR4 to enhance inventory health, allowing us to focus on the competition of high-value products like DDR5, which have market dominance."
It also noted that "the revenue share of legacy semiconductors such as DDR4 and LPDDR4 is expected to significantly reduce from about 20% last year to the single digits this year."
