Nexon will terminate the metaverse platform "Nexon Town," which it launched as a pilot service in 2022, due to low usage rates.
Nexon announced on the 23rd through its official website that it will end the service for Nexon Town on March 13.
Nexon Town gained attention as a platform where users could communicate in various virtual spaces such as plazas, classrooms, campgrounds, and conference rooms by transforming into characters from Nexon's flagship games like Mabinogi, MapleStory, Bubble Fighter, and Crazy Arcade. It particularly drew interest by implementing the 2022 game show G-STAR promotional hall in a virtual space.
However, despite its initial success, the user count plummeted, and operations continued without major updates. Nexon Town, which remained effectively in a "closed state," ultimately decided to terminate its service, disappearing from history after nearly two years.
