Devsisters' flagship title "Cookie Run: Kingdom," which has marked its 4th anniversary, has surpassed 72 million cumulative users and continues to achieve success in the global gaming market. This game, which is being serviced in over 200 countries, records more than half of its total revenue from overseas, while also keeping open the possibility of expanding into new markets such as India following China. "Cookie Run: Kingdom" is a collection-type role-playing game (RPG) where players collect cookie characters, build their own kingdoms, and enjoy battles.
On the 22nd at the Cookie Run: Kingdom 4th Anniversary media briefing held at Devsisters' headquarters in SGF Cheongdam Tower in Gangnam, Seoul, project director Kim Yi-hwan said, "The increasing share of global revenue indicates that Cookie Run: Kingdom is loved globally beyond just being a domestic hit," and noted, "Currently, we are maintaining services in over 200 countries, and there are no countries where service has been discontinued."
In particular, regarding the Chinese market, which Devsisters has been focusing on since 2023, Kim PD stated, "China is still in the early stages of service, making it a volatile period," and added, "We will smoothly collaborate while developing both China and global kingdoms together and expect stable revenue growth by streamlining the processes."
Devsisters is also exploring the potential for entry into new markets such as India following China. Recently, the mobile run game "Cookie Run" also began services in India. Kim PD mentioned, "We have a positive attitude toward challenges in new markets," and said, "If there are requests from non-service areas, including India, we will actively explore the possibility of pursuing those opportunities."
As of January this year, the number of subscribers to the global YouTube channel of "Cookie Run: Kingdom" has surpassed 1 million, and the subscriber count continues to rise. Kim PD remarked, "It is rare for a long-running service game to see such rapid growth in YouTube subscribers," explaining that this is the result of various campaigns and content prepared to enhance communication with users.
According to Kim PD, "Cookie Run: Kingdom" is currently achieving meaningful results in both revenue and user metrics. Revenue increased by 37.5% compared to the same period last year, and the number of new and returning users rose by 16.3% and 57.4%, respectively. Kim PD explained, "Since the 4th anniversary update, the influx of new users and the increase in returning users have been remarkable, reclaiming the upward trend seen in the early stages of service."
In this update, particularly notable contents include the large-scale regional update "Beast East Continent" and the enhanced user communication feature "My Cookie." "Beast East Continent" provides new stories and growth elements within the game, receiving positive feedback from users.
"My Cookie" is designed so that users can customize their characters, communicate with other users in the plaza, and enjoy mini-games, further strengthening the social elements within the game. Along with this, improvements for convenience and enhancements for the nurturing system to help new and returning users adapt have also been implemented.
Kim PD stated, "We are making various attempts to create an environment where existing, new, and returning users can all enjoy the game," and emphasized, "We will further strengthen our position in the global market through more diverse content and stable services."
