LG Electronics announced on the 21st that it has launched the 'Puricare Objet Collection AI+ 360-degree air purifier,' which detects pollutants using artificial intelligence (AI).
This new product is equipped with an 'AI air quality sensor' for the first time. This sensor detects pollutants such as formaldehyde, which causes new house syndrome, and ammonia, which is the cause of pet waste odors, as well as vapor generated during cooking, for sensitive customers regarding indoor air quality.
Additionally, it detects a total of nine types of pollutants along with sensors that detect existing fine dust, ultrafine dust, extreme ultrafine dust, and harmful gases like volatile organic compounds (TVOCs). According to tests by the Korea Standards Association, the AI air quality sensor, which has learned through deep learning, detects three types (formaldehyde, ammonia, volatile organic compounds) of harmful gases and vapors, automatically activating the air purification mode based on the types of gas and pollution level.
The 'AI customized operation function' learns and analyzes indoor air quality every hour, stopping the fan when the air quality is clean. The product analyzes air quality by itself and adjusts operation intensity, reducing power consumption by up to 50% compared to existing AI modes.
LG Electronics has received 'AI+ certification' after validating the performance of its AI air quality sensor and AI customized operation. This certification proves the quality of AI technology products based on international standards concerning AI quality, verified by the Korea Standards Association and the national accredited testing certification organization WiseStone. LG Electronics noted that this is the first time an air quality sensor has received AI+ certification domestically.
The product features the next-generation filter 'Puritalchwi Clean M Filter,' which has improved deodorization performance by over 40% compared to the existing Puritalchwi Clean G Filter. It applies a new material, MOF (metal-organic framework), which has micro pores that can adsorb gases.
The new product is equipped with a UVC LED lamp in the lower central part to sterilize the air being discharged using UVC (ultraviolet) light. LG Electronics explained that the UV sterilization function removes 99.9% of airborne bacteria and 99.8% of airborne viruses.
The new product will be released in two Objet Collection colors, sand beige and nature green, with a price set at 2.09 million won based on ex-factory prices. For customers using the subscription service, care experts will check the product's condition and replace filters, along with providing free repair benefits during the subscription period.
Hong Soon-yeol, head of LG Electronics' ES business unit air care division, said, 'It will provide a differentiated customer experience in indoor air purification and hygiene with an innovative air quality management solution that enhances empathic intelligence.'
