LG Electronics announced on the 19th that it will launch the world’s first wireless and transparent T, the LG Signature OLED T, in the global market.
Starting with pre-orders in the North American market on the 18th (local time), LG Electronics will sequentially launch the LG Signature OLED T in major global markets, including Europe and South Korea. The product is priced at $59,999.
The LG Signature OLED T is designed for the highest demands, considering both the inherent value of an ultra-premium TV and the elegance of the installation space. It incorporates the picture quality of a 77-inch 4K OLED, a transparent screen, and wireless audio-video transmission technology.
This product allows for easy switching between two screen modes with just a simple remote control. By switching to the 'black screen mode' for viewing, users can enjoy movies, games, and other content in the overwhelming 4K quality that a 77-inch large OLED screen offers.
When not viewing, using the 'transparent mode' creates a sense of openness, allowing users to see the space behind the screen as if the black TV screen has vanished, harmonizing beautifully with the surrounding décor. When enjoying dedicated content through the AOD function, it provides an immersive viewing experience. For instance, playing media art of fish swimming makes it feel as if the fish are swimming in the actual space, as the screen’s background overlaps with the content.
The bar-shaped body below the transparent OLED screen provides various information, including program schedules, currently playing music, and the current weather and time, all displayed on the front panel. Additionally, when not watching TV, it can also function as a 4.2-channel, 60-watt (W) Bluetooth speaker.
The openness provided by the transparent screen was further enhanced with a wireless audio-video transmission solution. Peripheral devices such as consoles and set-top boxes, which were previously connected to the TV body, can now be connected to a separate 'Zero Connect Box' installed next to the sofa or under a side table in the living room. All wires except for the power cord around the transparent screen have been removed.
The solution introduced by LG Electronics last year is capable of transmitting high-quality video at 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate without loss or delay.
In terms of AI performance, it is equipped with the 'Alpha 11 processor', a dedicated picture and sound engine that is four times more powerful than the previous Alpha 9, and it features content based on the proprietary smart TV platform 'webOS'.
The webOS home screen for the LG Signature OLED T separates content recommendation pages and displays reduced information on one screen. This allows for convenient app usage, and the screen has more whitespace compared to the webOS home screens applied to other smart TVs.
Park Hyeong-se, head of LG Electronics' MS Business Division (President), noted, 'The LG Signature OLED T has removed unnecessary elements for the customer.'
