Corporation Mobilent noted on the 15th that it won the 'CES Innovation Award' in the AI sector at the world's largest information technology (IT) exhibition, CES 2025, for its high-efficiency AI semiconductor REGULUS designed for on-device AI.
REGULUS is a low-power, compact AI semiconductor designed for on-device AI. It can demonstrate high AI performance of 10 TOPS (trillion operations per second) with low power consumption, a size smaller than a fingertip, and a low-heat, low-noise fanless structure, making it suitable for compact AI devices.
Notably, the capability to drive high-performance AI models with power consumption below 3 watts and at a low expense is REGULUS's greatest strength. Existing AI semiconductors, such as graphics processing units (GPUs), offer excellent performance and ease of use, but their low power efficiency and high price limit their application in on-device AI devices.
REGULUS can perform multiple AI computations and multimodal processing, making it applicable in various edge devices such as robots, drones, and kiosks. Additionally, it is expected to support small language models (sLLM) next year, further diversifying its applications. Mobilent has already secured over ten customers and is conducting tests, and expects increased demand from this award.
Mobilent is also set to launch its high-performance AI accelerator semiconductor ARIES. The PCIe card MLA100, which incorporates ARIES, can deliver performance surpassing some server GPUs while being less than half the size of a standard graphics card and consuming only one-tenth of the power, attracting significant interest. Discussions for introduction are underway not only in South Korea but also in the United States, Japan, the Middle East, India, and Taiwan.
Shin Dong-joo, CEO of Mobilent, stated, "The power-to-performance ratio of Mobilent's AI semiconductors is superior compared to any corporation in the world," and added, "We will ensure that customers who use Mobilent chips are satisfied and can develop better AI products through continuous technological development and support."
Mobilent will showcase its technological prowess in AI semiconductors through various live demonstrations utilizing the developed chips at this exhibition. CES will be held in Las Vegas from Jan. 7 to 10, 2025, and Mobilent will operate its exhibition booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) North Hall.
