A video showing an inappropriate moment between a female employee and the world-renowned British band 'Coldplay' at a concert has led to the resignation of a CEO of a famous American information technology (IT) corporation.
On the 19th (local time), the American data corporation Astronomer announced that it had accepted the resignation submitted by CEO Andy Byron. The board is expected to soon begin searching for a successor.
The incident occurred on the 16th at a Coldplay concert held at a venue in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
During the performance, CEO Byron was captured on a large screen similar to a 'kiss cam' featuring a woman in the audience. For about three seconds, the two shared a tender moment, hugging each other from behind. Realizing their image was displayed on the screen, they were startled and quickly looked away.
Seeing this, Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin joked during the concert, "The two are either having an affair or just very shy." The scene quickly spread on social media, garnering millions of views.
As the video went viral, internet users quickly identified the individuals in the footage. The man was identified as Byron, the married CEO, and the woman as Christine Cabot, the corporation's Chief People Officer (CPO). As the controversy escalated, the company immediately launched an investigation. Byron was soon suspended from his duties.
In its statement, Astronomer noted, "If you are a leader, you must meet certain standards in behavior and responsibility, but he failed to meet those standards."
Following the resignation announcement, Byron switched his LINKED account to private.
