It was reported on the 17th that the music director of the famous American audition TV program ‘American Idol’ was killed along with her husband.

According to foreign media outlets such as CNN and USA Today, Robin Kaye (70), the music director of American Idol, and her husband Thomas Deluca (70) were found dead in their Los Angeles (LA) home on the afternoon of the 14th. The LA Police Department responded to a report from an acquaintance who had been unable to contact the couple for several days and confirmed their deaths.

Police reported that they responded to a complaint from a neighbor who said someone had jumped over the couple’s fence on the 10th, four days prior. However, they withdrew after finding the front door locked and no apparent signs of forced entry.

On the 15th, police announced the arrest of 22-year-old Raymond Boodurian as a suspect in the couple’s murder. Boodurian allegedly broke into their home while the couple was away on the 10th, attempted to steal items, and encountered the couple upon their return, leading to a shooting.

Police reported, “The victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled the scene.” They explained that the suspect’s identity was confirmed based on surveillance camera footage installed inside the house and other evidence from the scene.

The late Robin Kaye worked as the music director of American Idol for 16 years starting in 2009. In 2014, she received the award for best music director in the reality TV institutional sector selected by the American Society of Music Arrangers.

The Spokesperson for American Idol said in a statement, “Robin was the cornerstone of the ‘Idol’ family since 2009 and was genuinely loved and respected by everyone around her,” adding, “She will forever remain in our hearts.”
