A South Korean man was found dead at a famous waterfall in Kyushu, Japan.
According to Asahi Television and NHK on the 16th, the man's body was discovered around 9:15 a.m. on the 14th at Harujiri Falls in Bungo-Onocity, Oita Prefecture.
Local police reported that the man was identified as A, a 19-year-old South Korean student, and the cause of death was confirmed as drowning.
Earlier, police and fire authorities launched a search after receiving a report around 7:30 p.m. on the 13th that 'a man had fallen into the waterfall pool and was not visible,' during which they found the deceased A.
A, who was visiting Japan for tourism, reportedly jumped into the pool about 20 meters below the waterfall with three friends.
Harujiri Falls is about 120 meters wide and 20 meters tall, which is roughly equivalent to a 7- to 8-story apartment building. It is popular among local Japanese people and travelers but relatively less known among South Korean tourists.
