On the 13th (local time), the foreign ministers of China and Russia met in Beijing to discuss relations with the United States and solutions to the Ukraine situation (war).
According to the Russian state news agency TASS, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, discussed major global issues. They are also known to have continued discussions on the Iran-Israel conflict and the situation on the Korean Peninsula, in addition to issues directly and indirectly related to U.S. relations and the Ukraine situation.
Minister Lavrov visited North Korea on the 11th after attending the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) foreign ministers' meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Afterward, he arrived in Beijing, China, on the same day following his schedule, which included a meeting with North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un and discussions with Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui on the 12th.
Minister Lavrov will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers' meeting in Tianjin, China, from the 14th to the 15th. After completing his schedule, Minister Lavrov plans to return to Russia.
