It was reported that Kim Jong Un, the Chairperson of the State Affairs Commission, met with Sergei Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, in Wonsan on the 12th. Kim indicated that he would spare no support for Russia, which is at war with Ukraine.
On the 13th, the Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim noted during a meeting with Lavrov, who was visiting North Korea, that "the two countries, North Korea and Russia, are coordinating their views on all strategic issues in accordance with the level of their alliance."
Before the meeting, Kim received a report on the results of the '2nd strategic dialogue' conducted between Choe Son Hui, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister Lavrov, stating that "the diplomatic positions of the two countries will positively contribute to peace and security in the region and the world."
He added, "I will unconditionally support all measures taken by the Russian leadership regarding the fundamental resolution of the Ukraine crisis," to which Minister Lavrov responded, "We will further strengthen strategic tactical cooperation and coordination between North Korea and Russia on the international stage."
On the same day, North Korea also disclosed a 'communique on the 2nd strategic dialogue' conducted between Choe Son Hui, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister Lavrov.
According to the communiqué, it was confirmed that the evaluations of the complex international situation by both sides align, and they agreed to enhance their awareness regarding the hegemonic aggression of hostile forces and to strengthen strategic communication to coordinate their common positions.
Both sides agreed to continue the exchange of views between their foreign policy agencies, including senior strategic dialogues, and stated that they also signed a plan for exchanges for 2026-2027.
Meanwhile, Minister Lavrov, at the invitation of Choe Son Hui, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Korea, visited North Korea through Wonsan Airport on the 11th and is scheduled to continue his visit until the 13th.
