The Chinese government announced on the 9th that it has included eight Taiwanese defense companies on its export control list.
According to China’s Ministry of Commerce, the corporations that will be sanctioned include ▲ Aerospace Industrial Development ▲ GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology ▲ Zhongshan Scientific Research Institute ▲ JC Technology ▲ China Shipbuilding Corporation ▲ Jong Shyn ▲ Lungteh ▲ Gong Wei, among others.
The Ministry stated, "(The export controls are) aimed at safeguarding national security and interests, and fulfilling international obligations such as preventing proliferation," adding, "These corporations have cooperated in promoting the military independence of the 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces," and that "any exporter must not violate the (export control) regulations."
Tseng Pin-hua, the Spokesperson for the State Council’s Taiwan Affairs Office, also noted, "Tsai Ing-wen (the President of Taiwan) has firmly maintained a 'Taiwan independence' stance since taking office and has sought to promote independence relying on foreign forces and through military means, and some corporations in Taiwan have aided this wrongdoing," adding that "corporations, organizations, and individuals participating in or inciting national division will be severely punished."
