The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism hosted the '2025 Korea Content Week' in partnership with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), which opened on the 2nd. This event is designed to support the entry of K-content into the Chinese market and explore strategies for expanding content exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
Korea Content Week, held at the Grand Millennium Beijing in China, will take place until the 4th and features the 'CHI-KO Forum' themed 'A New Future for Korea-China Content Industry Cooperation' as well as the 'Korea-China Content Exchange Night' and 'Korea-China Content Corporation Business Consultations'.
Korea Content Week marks its 10th iteration this year, starting from 'Korea Content Day' in 2017. To date, 212 Korean corporations and 575 Chinese corporations have participated, leading to over 1,700 business consultations and collaborative achievements across various fields including webtoons, games, and characters.
In the Chi-Ko Forum held that day, Professor Kim Young-jae from Hanyang University and Professor Li Jiasan from the International Strategy Research Institute of the National Cultural Development of China will each present topics titled 'Exploring Business Cooperation Models for Content Intellectual Property (IP)' and 'A New Vision for Korea-China Cultural Industry Cooperation in the Digital Age'. The session will be chaired by Professor Park Kwang-hae from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences University, who will lead a discussion on the future of cultural industry cooperation between the two countries.
On the 3rd, 25 Korean content corporations from various fields such as animation, characters, broadcasting, and games will participate and conduct one-on-one business consultations with Chinese buyers. They plan to discuss cooperation strategies involving content IP licensing, co-production, investment and joint ventures, and direct distribution.
Kim Gi-heon, head of the KOCCA Beijing Business Center, noted, 'This year, the demand for new entrants was so high that half of the participating corporations are first-timers at Korea Content Week,' adding, 'With active participation from local Chinese content corporations and industry associations, over 250 consultations are expected to be successful.'
The 2025 Korea Content Week will kick off in Beijing and will subsequently be held in Chengdu in September and Shanghai in November.
