Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said the White House that it will set tariff rates for each country immediately after the passage of the large tax cut legislation, "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," currently in progress in Congress.
On the 30th (local time), Kevin Hassett, Chairperson of the National Economic Council (NEC), noted in an interview with CNBC, "I believe there will be a marathon meeting as soon as the tax bill passes," adding, "We will review one country at a time with the President and set the final tariff rate."
He explained, "We will show the world the work that Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, and Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent have been doing."
Earlier, President Trump announced reciprocal tariffs in April and delayed the tariffs for 90 days after the measures took effect on the 9th of the same month, during which he has been negotiating trade agreements with various countries.
If the suspension is not extended by the 8th, the tariffs will be imposed starting on the 9th.
President Trump has reiterated that he will send a letter specifying the tariff rates to trading partners before the suspension period ends, indicating that he will not extend the measures.
In an interview with Fox News on the 29th, he stated, "We cannot negotiate with all 200 countries that are the subjects of negotiation," adding that the related letter to be sent in the future will be "the end of the trade negotiations."
Additionally, Commissioner Hassett emphasized in the interview, "We have numerous deals in hand, and they are double digits," referring to those cases as a "framework that will be agreed upon immediately, just like the one we had with the UK." The framework refers to the "agreement structure" created to include key principles before signing the final agreement in the trade negotiation process.
The United States has announced that after the suspension of reciprocal tariffs, it signed its first trade agreement with the UK on the 16th and concluded an agreement with China on the 26th.
