On the 26th (local time), the U.S. White House indicated that there is a possibility of further extending the deadline for mutual tariff exemptions, which is set to expire on the 8th of next month.

Karoline Leavitt, White House Spokesperson, said during a briefing that afternoon regarding the possibility of an extension, "It could possibly be extended, but that will be a decision made by President Donald Trump."

The Trump administration implemented differentiated mutual tariffs for 57 countries, including Korea, on April 9, then decided to delay for 90 days after just 13 hours. This indicates a possibility that the expiration period, set for the 8th of next month, may be postponed.

Earlier, President Donald Trump stated on the 11th that he is open to extending the negotiation deadlines with global trading partners, but an extension may not be necessary.

Last month, the United States achieved its first trade agreement with the United Kingdom, but negotiations with major trading partners such as the European Union (EU) and Japan have not been progressing swiftly.

In the case of Korea and the United States, it had been agreed during the ministerial "2+2 (Finance and Trade) consultations" in April to prepare a so-called "July package" for the abolition of tariffs by July 8.
