U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire, and in relation to this, Iran stated that if Israel halts its attacks, it will also refrain from responding.
According to Reuters, Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, said on the 24th (local time) through his X (formerly Twitter), "If Israel stops its 'illegal invasion' of Iran by 4 a.m. at the latest, Tehran time, we will have no intention of continuing our response thereafter."
He added, "As of now, there is no 'agreement' on a ceasefire or a halt to military operations," emphasizing that "a final decision on the suspension of our military operations will be made later." Minister Araghchi's remarks were reported through the media after the deadline for stopping Israeli attacks, which was set for 4 a.m.
Earlier, President Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a 'complete and total' ceasefire. He stated, "Iran will start the ceasefire first, and Israel will begin the ceasefire 12 hours later," adding, "In 24 hours, the world will celebrate the official end of the '12-day war.'"
Israel has not yet made an official statement regarding the ceasefire. However, Israel's Minister of Diaspora Affairs, Amichai Chikli, posted on his X after President Trump's announcement, expressing gratitude for the decisions of President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
