According to Reuters, an unnamed senior Iranian official stated that Iran agreed to the ceasefire mediated by Qatar and proposed by the United States. However, Iran has not yet made an official government statement regarding the ceasefire.

Qatar's mediation played a crucial role in the ceasefire. An anonymous Qatari official said that U.S. President Donald Trump requested the Qatari monarch to persuade Iran by stating that Israel had agreed to the ceasefire.

Reuters reported, "Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Qatari Prime Minister, secured final agreement on the ceasefire through a conversation with Iran."

Earlier that day, President Trump also stated on his social media platform, Truth Social, that "Israel and Iran have agreed to implement a complete and total ceasefire" and noted, "This ceasefire will take effect six hours after Israel and Iran have completed their ongoing final missions and withdrawn."
