United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres criticized the U.S. airstrike on Iran's nuclear facilities as "a dangerous escalation in a region already pushed to the brink" and "a direct threat to international peace and security."

On the 21st (local time), Guterres expressed "serious concern" in a statement and conveyed this information.

Guterres noted, "The risk of the conflict rapidly spiraling out of control is increasing," adding, "This could lead to catastrophic consequences for civilians in the region and, ultimately, the world."

He urged "member states to ease tensions and comply with their obligations under international law."

President Trump said in a speech to the nation that "very successful strikes have been completed on Iran's three nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan," stating, "Iran's nuclear facilities have been completely destroyed."
