China has strongly reacted to the United States' sudden strike on three nuclear facilities in Iran. The Chinese government criticized the airstrikes as a clear violation of international law, stating that the U.S.'s unilateral military actions have further exacerbated tensions in the Middle East.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern in a statement posted on the website on the 22nd, saying, "The U.S. attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, which are under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is a serious violation of the UN Charter and international law," and added that "such actions will escalate conflicts in the Middle East and negatively impact the already unstable regional situation."
China also urged an immediate ceasefire and civilian protection from the involved parties, including Israel, reiterating the need for dialogue to resolve conflicts. The spokesperson stated, "China is willing to work with the international community to unite and advocate for justice in efforts to restore peace and stability in the Middle East."
The state-run English media outlet China Daily strongly criticized the U.S. airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities as "a violation of international law and reckless escalation of tensions," pointing out that unilateral actions undermine the international order and set a dangerous precedent. The media emphasized the illegality of the attack on nuclear facilities, citing the Geneva Conventions and the IAEA's stance, and expressed concern that this incident has dampened diplomatic efforts for resolution.
It also warned that while the U.S. military actions may favor Israel, they could ultimately deepen regional instability and adversely affect energy security and the global economy.
