The Pakistani government recommended U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize on the 21st.

The Pakistani government stated on this day in a post on its X account that it decided to officially recommend President Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, recognizing his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan conflict.

The Pakistani government noted, "During a time of escalating regional turmoil, President Trump demonstrated remarkable strategic foresight and political skill through strong diplomatic collaboration with both Pakistan and India." It added, "This conflict could have had devastating consequences for millions. Such intervention proves his role as a true peace broker and commitment to conflict resolution."

This recommendation came after a meeting between President Trump and the powerful military figure in Pakistan, General Asim Munir, at the White House on the 18th. After the meeting, the White House revealed that Munir urged that President Trump should receive the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

Meanwhile, President Trump claimed the previous day on his social media platform Truth Social that the peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Rwanda was due to his mediation, and despite mediating conflicts between India-Pakistan and Serbia-Kosovo, he is being overlooked by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

President Trump stated that even if he resolves the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Iran conflicts, he will not receive the Nobel Peace Prize, saying, "But people know."

During a meeting with reporters, President Trump also claimed that based on his accomplishments, such as the 'Abraham Accords' normalizing diplomatic relations between Israel and neighboring Arab countries and mediating the India-Pakistan conflict, he should have received the Nobel Peace Prize four to five times, arguing that the Nobel Committee only awards peace prizes to progressives, thus he would not receive one.

President Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize several times by his supporters and Republican lawmakers.
