Twenty South Korean nationals and their families residing in Iran were transferred to Turkmenistan on the 18th (local time) with government assistance.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 19th, amid escalating clashes between Israel and Iran, our government dispatched a rapid response team to protect overseas nationals unable to leave following the closure of Iranian airspace.
As a result of this measure, 18 of our nationals and two Iranian nationals departed from the capital Tehran on the morning of the 17th and arrived at the Iran-Turkmenistan border checkpoint the following day. They are currently in transit to the capital Ashgabat via government-supported transportation, and our government plans to provide consular assistance, including accommodation and flight guidance, in cooperation with the embassy in Turkmenistan.
On that day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that "nationals residing in Israel and Iran are strongly urged to depart promptly under the guidance of the embassy" and remarked, "We advise canceling or postponing travel to the region."
Earlier, on the 17th, travel alert levels for Israel and Iran were raised to level 3 (departure recommendation).
