China’s foreign minister criticized Israel for its actions amid escalating military clashes with Iran, stating that “Israel’s actions violate international law and the principles of international relations,” and that Iran’s sovereignty and security have been undermined by Israel’s attacks.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China on the 19th, Wang Yi, the foreign minister, said during a call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi the day before, “The rightness or wrongness of the current situation is clear at a glance.” This call was made at the request of both countries. Oman has been mediating nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran.
He told Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi that “the conflict has disrupted the indirect negotiation process of the Iranian nuclear issue, which had been achieved with difficulty, and has rendered Oman’s mediation efforts futile,” adding that “the urgent priority is a ceasefire; the sooner the ceasefire is realized, the smaller the losses will be. We must not allow the regional situation to fall into an unknown abyss.”
He told Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty that “Israel’s actions, which disregard international law and rules, have sharply heightened tensions in the Middle East,” and “China is deeply concerned about the possibility of the situation becoming uncontrollable.” He added, “China will strengthen communication with Egypt and work to maintain peace through multilateral platforms such as the United Nations.”
